Primary Purpose:
This position reports to the Director of Special Education and Campus Principal. Work involves acting as a liaison with District Special Education Coordinator, Campus Administrator, Teachers and Parents. Good communication skills as well as possessing an ability to work with timelines are imperative. Applicant must have working knowledge of state and federal guidelines in regard to servicing special education students.

Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree
Special Education Teaching Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of federal and state special education law
Understanding of the individual needs of special needs students
Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their parents
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Classroom teaching in an inclusion or co-teaching environment preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in the evaluation process of Special Education students and staff to the extent required by the building principal and the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services.
- Compilation of student data regarding special education students’ efforts.
- Staffing with administrators, special education teachers, assessment personnel, and general education teachers to determine best practice for all students.
- Reviewing and constructing ARD/IEP paperwork. eSped expertise preferred as this is the software currently being utilized within the District.
- Writing deliberations for documentation of student IEP’s.
- Coordinating scheduling of ARD’s with District scheduling secretary.
- Familiarity with FERPA requirements concerning dissemination of student records and information.
- Communicating with parents on ongoing basis regarding students’ progress or lack thereof.
- Working cohesively with Special Programs Director, Counselors, and Special Education Director.
- Documenting contact with various parties through email, phone conversation or paperwork.
