Job Title: Summer School Administrator

 

Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Professional

Reports to: Chief Instructional Officer

Dept./School: Assigned Campus

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Texas Certified School Administrator (Principal EC-12) preferred.
  • Experience running a successful school program.
  • Strong Organization and Communication Skills

 Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Facilitate and provide oversight to students who are enrolled in Accelerated Instruction during summer school. 
  • Work with district administrators during the spring semester to determine summer school logistics. 
  • Collaborate with central office staff to advertise Accelerated Instruction sessions for the upcoming summer. 
  • Facilitate the process of student registration for Accelerated Instruction. 
  • Hire teachers and paraprofessionals for summer school. 
  • Facilitate a summer school professional learning day.
  • Place students into appropriate summer learning environments to meet their needs. 
  • Work with transportation to coordinate bus routes for students needing to ride the bus. 
  • Determine logistics at the summer school campus such as pick up and drop off times, locations, etc. 
  • Maintain attendance data for students who attend Accelerated Instruction.  Campuses will need this information to plan for Accelerated Instruction during the school year accordingly. 
  • Supervise the summer school program to include any behavior issues that may arise. 
  • Collaborate with other administrators running summer programs such as ESY, Credit Recovery, Attendance Recovery and Bilingual Jumpstart to ensure students are enrolled in the correct programs. 
  • Assist in supervising any summer school program on the campus where you are assigned. 
  • Communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with all school administrators, faculty, parents, and media.
